Oodles Of Oddities + Some Winners

I have so much to share this Saturday.  Let's jump to it!

Yesterday was our brand new Trader Joe's grand opening (just 5 minutes from my house).  I've never lived near a Trader Joe's so I'm pumped.  Lilly and I (being the avid shoppers that we are) of course had to go and check it out on opening day.  It was PACKED.  The lines were so crazy that I didn't even bother purchasing anything, but founds a lot of fun things for next time.  Do you have favorite Trader Joe's products?  I've heard their pizza dough is fabulous.  I snapped this picture as we were walking in.

I had coffee with Julia of Pawley's Island Posh blog yesterday too.  We've been blog buddies for almost a year and this was our first time to meet.  To say that I adore her even more now is a major understatement.  We didn't snap a picture but I snagged this one from her blog.  Isn't she and her little girl adorable?!

Glitter Guide just posted this lipstick personality chart to their facebook page.  I tend to keep my lipstick close to the original shape which apparently means that I'm quite reserved- so it definitely didn't get it right.  Is it right for you?

Did you see my girl Sally Benedict in the August/September issue of Garden & Gun?  So beautiful. I snapped a quick photo with my phone.

About a week ago I discovered that I had forgotten my hair straightener at the hotel in San Diego!  Since it had been a week since we had checked out I didn't figure I would have much luck getting it back, but when I called the Grand Del Mar they did indeed have it!  Yay!  I just got it in the mail, which really only reminded me of our vacation.  Did I tell you how wonderful the Grand Del Mar was?  It was beautiful and the service was absolutely amazing.  And for being such a nice resort, they were SO great with kids too!  Did I tell you that every night they left chocolate covered oreos during turndown service?  Heaven.  I sure do miss it.  Here's a picture of us at the zoo.

And now for the Stella & Dot winners!  Congratulations to Julie of Julip Made (15) and Megan of Fried Green Pickles (165).  You each win a $75 gift card to Stella & Dot.  Email Annette at hello@baublesbash.com. Can't wait to see what you pick.

Kelly Wearstler Resort 2012

Just laid my eyes on Kelly Wearstler's Resort collection, I LIKE!

With prices ranging from $58 (for a shirt) to $450 (average dress price) it looks like Kelly's style might just be attainable too.

Jewels too.

{I spy two dresses that look bump friendly!!}

They'll be hitting Kelly's site in August.

Rainboots

The last few days Charleston has been hit with some much needed rain.  Which of course got me thinking that I need a new pair of rainboots.  I have a cute casual pair that I've had for about 4 years but I would really like a slightly dressier pair too.  Right now these are all catching my eye.

I'm really drawn to J.Crew's Weatherby rainboot too.  Though I'd probably want them in black.

Have you seen any other great pairs out there lately?

And on a random note, last night Josh surprised me with an evening at the spa.  So sweet!  Unfortunately my massage was literally SO bad that I had to ask him to stop and I just left in the middle of it (it wasn't going to be a quick fix like the "lighten the pressure" or anything).  Has this ever happened to anyone?  I'm not going to share the location b/c I really like the spa and they did handle the situation so well.  I guess sometimes you just don't mesh!

"Shop The Street" Glitter Guide Feature

I'm so very excited to be featured on one of my favorite sites, Glitter Guide.  When the Glitter Guide's very own Caitlin (who is also the blog author of Style Within Reach) contacted me about an article I was both honored and pumped.  We came up with what I think turned out to be a great feature,

I may be a novice at photoshoots, but I am one avid shopper.  And with the most amazing photographer by my side, Gray Benko, I had a lot of fun!  We took these photos a little over a month ago.  For those of you doing the math, I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time.  We focused on King St. in downtown Charleston and spent the afternoon stopping in at some of my favorite shopping destinations.

I would just be over the moon if you would please head over and see the whole feature.  And thanks to all of you who have already seen it and have sent the overly kind messages.

PS, would ya'll be interested in seeing some of the photos that weren't used in the feature?

We're Having A....

We did the gender cake, so fun.  My original plan had been to throw a little party but decided to keep things easy and just keep it to the three of us.  We let Lilly have the honor of digging in (she may or may not have thought it was her birthday).

See those blueberries??  Yep, it's a BOY!  Holy schmitzers I wasn't expecting that.  What do I do with a boy??!!  I'm really excited but really scared too, ha!  I hope he likes dolls and shopping.  Oh my gosh, what if he doesn't like to shop??

Here's a short video (about 45 seconds) of Lilly finding the blueberries.  It's funny b/c at first we thought the cake was red inside and I exclaim that it's a girl...

So naturally you know that the next day I had to go shopping for this little man.  Lilly absolutely adores BlaBla Dolls (as do I), so I decided he should have one of his own.

I suppose we should buy him a few trucks too.  I should probably also buy something for myself (in his honor of course...wink!).  Perhaps the blue pair of shoes from yesterday's post??

Brainstorm With Me

I really want to give you all a great big giant hug for all of the wonderful messages regarding our pregnancy.  Tuesday was such a blissful day with my phone ding-ding-dinging with new blog comments.  Ya'll are seriously the best readers and friends in the world!

And while I'm on the pregnancy topic (don't worry this isn't becoming a pregnancy blog), yesterday we went in for our 16 week appt.  My amazing doctor (Dr. Lara Wilson at Lowcountry OBGYN) snuck us in for an early ultrasound so we could see the gender of the baby.  Wooohoooo.  The contents of this envelope will tell us if we're having a boy or a girl!

{I took this picture in the elevator right after the appt. Josh had gone ahead back to work in case you're wondering...)

Can you believe the willpower I have?  I'm surprised Josh trusted me with that.  So, if we can refrain from just tearing into the envelope (which is entirely possible) we'd like to find out the gender in a fun way.  We're considering doing a gender reveal cake where a bakery makes the outside of the cake neutral and the inside is either strawberry or blueberry cake and then just let Lilly tear into it.  Could be fun to cut into, and eat...  Have any other ideas?

On a funny and last note, about an hour after the appt I texted Josh and just wrote "It's a boy!" to see what he'd say.  He actually believed that I had not only opened it without him but had deemed it appropriate to just text him the news... He was so mad that I'm not even going to share his response with you.  I got a lot of laughs out of that.

See What's New!

Have you checked Pretty Smitten lately?  Lots of pretty things and ideas floating around over there!

I adore the idea of his and hers lucite trays!  Go check out the shop.

I've Been Keeping A Secret

For the past few months I've been working on a very important project...

The project will probably turn out a little something like this...

Yep, our wild family of three is growing!!
I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant.  Our due date is January 1st, 2012.  And I couldn't be happier.

Photography by Jylare Photography.  Ya'll know her - she's been a sponsor here on my blog!  She came to the Grand Del Mar in San Diego on Friday to take a family photo (of all 28 of us) and was sweet enough to snap these for me too!  I can definitely tell you now that Jylare rocks!

Made In The South Awards

My friend Haskell (an editor at Garden & Gun) recently told me about this great contest going on and I had to share with you all.  Garden & Gun magazine is in the midst of the 2nd year of their annual contest Made in the South.  Do you make a fashion, home, food, or sporting product here in the South?  Now's your chance to take it to the next level. Last year's Style winner, Gabrielle of Gabrielle Jewelry, casts the most gorgeous lace jewels by integrating traditional clothing adornments into modern pieces of jewelry.  In other words, she preserves the original design by replacing it with metal.

And I know that some of you have wild talents too.  The winners (along with several honorable mentions) of each category will be published in Garden & Gun's December/January 2012 issue.  Each winner will also receive a $500 cash prize along with a chance to be a part of the Made in the South Awards online boutique at Taigan.  So go enter!  It's a really simple entry process and you have until August 1st to do it.

Good luck!

Home Sweet Home

Did you even know I was gone?  We got home last night from a wonderful week long family vacation in San Diego.  I feel like all I did was eat (because that is pretty much what I did!).  So unfortunately I won't be celebrating National Ice Cream Day today, but you totally should!!

Happy eating.
