Shopping My Closet: 1 Sweater x 5 Ways

I've been working on a project post for my friend Brie over at Cotton & Cane.  She asked me to take one article of clothing from my closet and come up with a few different outfits using it.  What I love about this is that I do this all the time.  Don't we all?  I love shopping my closet and finding new ways to wear items.  Well today I'm going to share the top that I decided not to use for her post.  It's the Puff Sleeve Sweater by Free People and it's very lightweight for spring.  I absolutely adore it.  It's available in a few colors.  I {so far} have it in grey.

Since I'm using pieces from my closet these collages won't be as pretty as the polyvore arrangements, just keeping it real.  Oh, and I tried to stay basic or this project would have taken more time than I had.  So keep in mind they need the fun extras, like jewelry, bags, jackets, scarves, hosiery...

LOOK #1
{Paired with a Free People Floral Scrunch Skirt, J.Crew metallic belt and J.Crew heels.}

This sweater is very thin so it tucks nicely.  Love it paired with the bright floral print.

LOOK #2
{Worn over a striped tee from Urban Outfitters, scalloped hem shorts from Yes Style, and Sam Edelman Gigi flat sandals.}

The sweater is perfect for layering over or under things, skys the limit.  I chose a simple striped tee.  It would look great over a collared button down untucked too.  Love it with the scallop hemmed shorts.

LOOK #3
{Tied in a side knot and paired with a bright, knee length, round skit from Banana Republic and J.Crew flower heels.}

This sweater looks awesome tied up in a side knot.  Such an easy way to switch things up.

LOOK #4
{Paired with Paperbag Trousers from Urban Outfitters and J.Crew heels.}

This is one of my favorite looks.  It looks great untucked too for a more relaxed look.

LOOK #5
{Paired with a J.Crew sequin mini skirt, American Apparel twist scarf worn as a belt, and J.Crew heels.}

I throw almost anything over this sequin skirt.  LOVE it.  And I really recommend getting one of those twist scarves.  You can wear them in your hair, as a necktie, as a belt...

A few ending thoughts:  Remember these need final touches.  Don't forget accessories and more layers if you wish ;)  And, wow, apparently I shop a lot at J.Crew...

Want your own puff sleeve sweater?  You can get yours here.

Hey Brie, when do you want me to send over my post??

Not surprisingly I love every look. I'm pretty sure I need to go buy that shirt asap. The only one I'm not cool enough to wear is look #4. I'm terrified of how I'd look in those fun pants.

Great post idea Chassity. I adore every look and I think you may have been wearing this sweater Monday and I loved it with the black necklace you had on then too! My favorite looks are one and Five. Now when can I come over and borrow that sequined skirt:)

Mind if I come shop your closet??!! Oh MY goodness!! those heels!! ahhhhh
Especially the tan and pink ones...and the sandals with the fuchsia strap!!
I've been looking for a floral skirt like the first one and can't find one long enough like that...I always see the mini skirts that just don't exactly go on my body type...its always a little shorter in the back, longer in the front if you know what i mean...

Hope you have a lovely Tuesday, Chassity!!

Very cool. You managed to get 5 completely different looks from one piece. I usually end up wearing my things the same way every time. Maybe it's time for me to look at my wardrobe with a new set of eyes~

LOVE.THIS.POST. and I LOVE shopping my closet ... almost as much as I love ACTUALLY shopping!

I've been thinking about getting a sequin skirt, but I'm nervous the sequins will fall off if you wear it too much?

I really may need that puff sleeve sweater too! :)

Ok, I actually bookmarked this because I am a fashion idiot at times! I tend to always wear the same shirt the same way. So I'm going to try to mix it up more. Love it.
