New Closet Space

Okay, so we've all seen my current master closet. Well in the new house I want to switch up the style. I've done the custom built in look and it's really pretty, but I'm definitely leaning toward a more eclectic look this time around. Here are a few of the closets that I'm using as inspiration...

Sliding ladder...

Unique clothing racks...

Again, unique clothing rack and also furniture...

And glass cased goodies...

So get this, we have this sliding glass door cabinet that we currently use for books... (please excuse the disarray...)

Yep. That baby is going in the new master closet and will be home to my shoes and handbags. Diggity. But, I'm still up in the air on what I'll use for hanging clothes. I have a few ideas, (painted pvc piping, z-racks, retail fixtures...) but would love for ya'll to weigh in. Think inexpensive, 'cause this is on a budget ya'll.

great! So I'd like to reserver a seat in your closet at your first housewarming party. It's going to be ah-mazing and begging me to come hang out and drink champagne!

For me the ladder would be a must - and way freaking cool. Love the enclosed piece, and the idea of stand alone hanging fixtures. What if you made hanging rods using metal pipes and fittings??

PVC is out....it will scratch in a day! Use a large wood pole over PVC. What about acrylic rods? You can order them from a sign making shop. It's going to rock!

I love all your books! And that sliding ladder? Ever since watching Beauty & the Beauty as a child, I've wanted a library with a sliding latter. I'd probably fall off and break a leg, but it would look darn cute! (The library, not my leg.) Obviously.

Use residential gas line pipe for hanging items, it is the perfect shape & size, you can lacquer it clear for a grey industrial look or spray paint it any color. I used it for a pull up bar in my gym, painted it bright yellow, love the shape and lines and there are no limits for length and it is strong as heck. Let me know if you want me to send you a pic! xx

I love the glass case to house all your shoe and handbag love!! I am definitely incorporating one of those in my house!!!

What about hanging curtain rods...they usually have some type of fancy end fixtures that could really glam up a space!!!

Wow!! I am super envious of how awesome I know your closet will be!!! Acrylic rods could be really cool or painted wooden rods in a fun bright color! Can't wait to see it finished!!! How's the house coming?!

A big ol' YES to the sliding glass case for shoes and bags, tres glam...and as for the hanging stuff, that is going to be a lot more difficult! My favorite pictures of closets are always the ones that look almost in disarray because of all the different things in them, yet my own closet is completely OCD...*sigh* apparently I am going to be no help in this situation (c:

I love the idea of a sliding ladder. This really helps you utilize all of the space in your closet too! I'm moving in June and cannot wait to get a new closet/dressing room set up.

I'm crazy for Library ladders! I recently spied an amazing vintage French clothing rack similar to photo #2 in an amazing salvage store...it was $15,000. :-(
