Dreamy Picnic

Some people really live life. Take Olivia Rae. I don't know this girl, but I've seen her blog. And every single time I visit her space I leave feeling happy and inspired. She's always outdoors, out and about, with family and friends, enjoying food, conversation, the night air, under twinkling lights. I live my life too, I think I live it well, but man I need to get outside more. I'm a sucker for going out to restaurants, attending events, and shopping, but I could use some more nature in my life. You know what I mean?

Well a few weeks ago a mutual friend of ours commented on the most enchanting photo of Olivia, and I have no idea why but it just so happened to pop up in my newsfeed. So I emailed Olivia to get the scoop on this sweet photo in hopes of sharing it here on the blog. Turns out, it was just a random Sunday morning. Nothing special, just she and her boyfriend Blake rowing around the Lilypads at Cypress Gardens (near Charleston, where scenes from The Notebook were filmed) and eating sticky buns from Wildflour Pastry. Maybe I should start bringing a photographer friend around with me? What sweet memories her friend Susan captured...

I'm making it a mission to get outside this weekend. Maybe we'll take out the kayak for Father's Day. Enjoy the weekend, Everyone!

Agreed. I adore Olivia Rae's blog and her photos are just lovely. You're right - she really does live life. I love her "we called our friends and just decided to meet at the beach" photos. I feel like moving to Charleston.

Wow! These photos are gorgeous and I can see what you mean by inspiring. Just looking at them makes me want to go to my families lake house and bring a photographer friend along!lol. I love being outdoors and in Houston we only have about 3 good months without it being too hot or too muggy. Maybe I should move where this lovely girl lives!

I have never come across her blog but I am heading over there now!

I think her photos are really lovely and she continues to have a spot on my blogroll... But I don't believe for a second that this was just a regular Sunday.

I think blogs like this are part of the larger discussion among the blog universe about the depiction of the nicer, more beautiful things in life vs. the honest, not always pretty truth.

Hi Karen, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hear what you're saying about blogs depicting only the pretty. I'm guilty of it here on my blog, never showing you my bedhead days and pjs :) but I don't think anyone comes to LLL to see that stuff. I think we can take inspiration in that Olivia seizes a random Sunday to get out and explore. That's what I wanted to share here today. I need to make a bigger effort in taking advantage of every beautiful day that comes my way, for life is too short.

Thanks for sharing. Love your blog and now love Olivia's. You're right, I don't come here to see your bed head. I get to see my own each morning (while I'm reading your blog actually). I took the post just as you meant it. To seize the day. I may not spend every morning on a creek, in a canoe, eating delicious pastries, but I'll count myself lucky to even partake every now and then.

Also question for you, I have a 9 month old and I was curious, when y'all take out the kayak, do y'all bring along your kids? If so, at what age and what type of protection/life preserver do you use? Feel free to e-mail me if you'd rather not answer in the comments. Thanks!
