We're Having A....

We did the gender cake, so fun.  My original plan had been to throw a little party but decided to keep things easy and just keep it to the three of us.  We let Lilly have the honor of digging in (she may or may not have thought it was her birthday).

See those blueberries??  Yep, it's a BOY!  Holy schmitzers I wasn't expecting that.  What do I do with a boy??!!  I'm really excited but really scared too, ha!  I hope he likes dolls and shopping.  Oh my gosh, what if he doesn't like to shop??

Here's a short video (about 45 seconds) of Lilly finding the blueberries.  It's funny b/c at first we thought the cake was red inside and I exclaim that it's a girl...

So naturally you know that the next day I had to go shopping for this little man.  Lilly absolutely adores BlaBla Dolls (as do I), so I decided he should have one of his own.

I suppose we should buy him a few trucks too.  I should probably also buy something for myself (in his honor of course...wink!).  Perhaps the blue pair of shoes from yesterday's post??

A boy!!!! YAY!! You're going to love that little guy! I have to confess that when I was pregnant with Matthew I was kind of disappointed (in the very deep end of my heart) because I always wanted a girl but oh man boys rock!! If I have a second baby I would LOVE to have another boy.
PS: Don't be scared, they are great! the only thing you have to be scared of is to not get peed on the face when changing diapers, but that stops at 5 months or so ;)
CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and the news that you are having a boy!! We brought my ob/gyn a blue & pink ribbon and had her put the corresponding color in a box - then we opened the box together at home. It was so fun doing it that way although I love your idea of a cake. I have 2 boys and they are so much fun - you will have a ball with a boy!

Cassie {Hi Sugarplum} said...

You will LOVE having a boy. They are the absolute sweetest...MUCH easier (no drama) than girls, and are uber loving and protective of their mammas!!!!

OH SO EXCITING!!!! CONGRATS!!! Ps- did you know that my house in the highlands in Atlanta was one street over from the bla bla headquarters (cutest HQ EVER in this little charming building with a black and white old school tile porch) and I used to walk by their sidewalk sales all the time and pick up little dolls like the one you bought for $10 for the big ones....AND NEVER KNEW UNTIL I HAD A BABY that they were so much more OR that they would be my baby girl's FAV toys. So funny. All that time.....The owner was in my pilates class too, lol. LOVE everything they make. So does baby k. Looks like your babies do/will too! xoxo shel

Congrats pretty lady! So exciting and for me (as I have no kids yet) a boy would definitely be intimidating, but at least an entire new shopping category!!

I cried for weeks when I found out I was having TWO boys! I am such a girlie girl. Turns out, I think someone up above knew what they were doing b/c I absolutely adore my boys like crazy & sometimes wish I didn't get my tubes tied & could have another boy :) Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Amelia with all of my heart, but there is something about a boy(s) and his momma :) You will see!

My Interior Life said...

Oh, how exciting! I have a girl then a boy (3 years apart, and now 9 and 6, yikes), so I totally understand your reaction, but it's so great to have one of each and to get to experience the boy side of life. The cliche is right - boys do love their mamas!
